Pakistan’s Information Technology exports rose 97.34 percent during last five years, said a document prepared by Ministry of Information Technology and Telecom.
Document, that was presented in the National Assembly, said that total IT exports valued around $1.250 billion during past five years.
Year-wise IT exports remained as following:
  • 2008-09: $201.903 million
  • 2009-10: $204.763 million
  • 2010-11: $235.334 million
  • 2011-12: $273.814 million
  • 2012-13: $333.511 million
Ministry of Information Technology and Telecom has also set targets for exports of IT services for next five years which include $414.389 million for 2013-14, $530.418 million for 2014-15, $689.543 for 2015-16, $910.197 million for 2016-17 and $1,229.738 million for 2017-18.
Report said that combined IT services exports are expected to cross $3.7 billion mark during next five years.
It was revealed that a total of 17 private companies of Pakistan achieved the targets of exceeding one million US dollars in IT services exports.
Report said that there are over 100 countries that are depending on Pakistan companies for IT services and products.
USA remained the largest foreign market for Pakistani IT services with 40 percent market-share. Other major exporters included United Arab Emirates (UAE), United Kingdom (UK), Netherlands, China, Bahrain, Singapore, Canada, Germany, Norway, Saudi Arabia, Japan, Thiland, Malaysia, Switzerland, Australia, Denmark, Sweden, Ireland and South Korea.
