Jon Fredrik Baksaas, CEO & President Telenor Group and Chairman of GSMA, is in Pakistan on a two day schedule.
During his visit he is expected to hold high level meetings with government officials and dignitaries to discuss the growing and evolving ecosystem of mobile telecommunication and mobile financial services in the country.
“Jon Fredrik Baksaas’ visit comes at the most opportune time as
mobile operators in Pakistan are gearing up for the upcoming 3G spectrum
auction and provide internet and data services to one of the largest
mobile phone markets in the world. I hope his visit will help in further
highlighting collective industry issues and putting forth the mobile
operators’ perspectives to the government and regulatory authorities.”
said Lars Christian Iuel, CEO, Telenor Pakistan.
“Telenor Pakistan has shown tremendous growth over the years in its GSM and financial services domains,” Iuel added. “We remain a strategic player in the region in terms of empowering societies through our ambition of expanding financial inclusion and bringing Internet for All.”
Telenor Pakistan has plans to engage media for interaction with Baksaas. For the purpose, there are few interviews lined up for tomorrow, however, Telenor will have to be cautious since a similar media interaction with Lars, CEO of Telenor Pakistan, went ugly in the past when his off-the-record conversation was made public.
Jon Fredrik Baksaas has been President and CEO of Telenor Group since June 2002.
