A really bad year for the world's second-largest email service provider, <b>Yahoo Mail</b>! The company <a href="http://yahoo.tumblr.com/post/75083532312/important-security-update-for-yahoo-mail-users" target="_blank">announced</a> today, '<i>we identified a coordinated effort to gain unauthorized access to Yahoo Mail accounts</i>', user names and passwords of its email customers have been stolen and are used to access multiple accounts.</div>

Yahoo did not say how many accounts have been affected, and neither they
 are sure about the source of the leaked users' credentials. It appears 
to have come from a third party database being compromised, and not an 
infiltration of Yahoo's own servers.</div>

"<i>We have no evidence that they were obtained directly from Yahoo’s 
systems. Our ongoing investigation shows that malicious computer 
software used the list of usernames and passwords to access Yahoo Mail

email addresses from the affected accounts’ most recent sent emails.</i>"</div>

For now, Yahoo is taking proactive actions to protect their affected users, "<i>We
 are resetting passwords on impacted accounts and we are using second 
sign-in verification to allow users to re-secure their accounts. 
Impacted users will be prompted (if not, already) to change their 
password and may receive an email notification or an SMS text if they 
have added a mobile number to their account.</i>" </div>

People frequently use the same passwords on multiple accounts, so 
possibly hackers are brute-forcing Yahoo accounts with the user 
credentials stolen from other data breaches. </div>

Yahoo users can prevent account hijacks by using a strong and unique password. You can use 'Random strong password generator' feature of <i>DuckDuckGo search engine</i> to get a unique & strong password. </div>

Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) has said that it is
 investing in one of the largest international submarine cable 
consortium system, in collaboration with the leading telecom operators 
of the world.<br />

The undersea cable system encompasses a multimillion dollar 
investment and will enable Pakistan to meet its future information 
communications needs.<br />

Spanning approximately 25,000 KMs, the AAE-1 submarine cable will be 
one of the first cable systems connecting Hong Kong, Singapore, Middle 
East, Africa and Europe and provide an alternative low latency route 
between Pakistan and rest of the world.<br />

The new cable system, Asia Africa Europe (AAE-1), will be adding 
terabits of bandwidth to PTCL’s international capacity, besides building
 redundancy to its existing international infrastructure on eastern and 
western side of the Arabian Sea.<br />

Sayyed Muhammad Imran Ali, PTCL Executive Vice President (EVP) 
International Business Relations and Essa Khalifa Alsuwaidi, PTCL 
Executive Vice President (EVP) International Investments & Capacity 
Sales represented PTCL at the signing ceremony.<br />
“This global initiative marks our vision to cater for the growing 
broadband and data services requirements of Pakistan for both the 
consumer and corporate segments”, said Walid Irshaid, President & 
CEO, Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL).<br />

“This will be the fourth high capacity undersea cable system of PTCL 
and will serve as a catalyst to stimulate growth and development in the 
country by providing robust, reliable and lowest latency connectivity. 
The company has already invested in three international cable consortium
 systems SMW3, SMW4 and IMEWE, which act as a gateway for Pakistan to 
the information superhighway”, added Walid Irshaid.<br />

AAE-1 is one of the largest cable systems launched and will employ 
100Gbps technology with wavelength add/drop branching units along the 
lowest latency route and a design capacity of over 40 terabits.<br />

The seventeen major carriers including China Unicom, Chuan Wei, 
Djibouti Telecom, Etisalat, Mobily, Omantel, OTEGLOBE, Ooredoo, PCCW 
Global, Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL), Telecom 
Egypt, TOT, Viettel and some other carriers, have signed the 
Construction and Maintenance Agreement (C&MA) in Hong Kong on 
January 27, 2014 to officially mark the commencement of the AAE-1 
Project.<br />

Additionally, having two diversified Points of Presence (PoP) in Asia
 (Hong Kong and Singapore) and three onward connectivity options in 
Europe (via France, Italy and Greece) will provide the requisite 
flexibility for these carriers and their customers.<br />

The target completion date for AAE-1 cable construction is the year 
2016. When completed, it will connect Hong Kong, Vietnam, Cambodia, 
Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, India, Pakistan, Oman, UAE, Qatar, Yemen,
 Djibouti, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Greece, Italy and France.</div>

Wateen today announced that it has been awarded a three year Managed 
Services contract by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) to provide VSAT 
Hub & Spoke operations, field maintenance and technical support to 
connect its Head office and 14 regional and branch offices. <br />

Being the central bank of Pakistan with countrywide operations, State
 Bank of Pakistan felt the need to centralize its applications to reach 
all its branches. Wateen’s VSAT Bandwidth on PAKSAT Satellite will 
connect 15 State Bank sites. This will reduce the costs on distributed 
backend operations of State Bank of Pakistan by bringing them to the 
front end with the centralization of core backend applications.<br />
During this three year project, starting this month, Wateen Telecom 
will maintain PAKSAT satellite Bandwidth and will provide 24-hour (SLA) 
services to State Bank of Pakistan. Wateen Telecom won this project 
after tough competition with other vendors, primarily due to the 
company’s big customer clientele of VSAT and excellent support model in 
telecom sector.<br />

Commenting on the contract, Mr. Naeem Zamindar, CEO Wateen Telecom, said,<br />

Google has decided to sell Motorola Mobility to Lenovo for $2.91 billion. The American search company, whose buyout of Motorola was puzzling, despite the fact it owns Android, disclosed the news last night and we’re really not surprised much.<br />

As a part of the deal Lenovo will get to own Motorola’s 2,000 patents
 and its brand name, while remaining (majority of) patents will remain 
with Google.<br />
The deal is also one of the largest ever initiated by a Chinese technology company.<br />

The move is widely seen as an attempt by Lenovo, which is the 5th 
largest and among the quickest growing smartphone manufacturers, as 
gaining some important market share in the American markets where 
Motorola remains a major force.<br />

Lenovo, whose reach has been limited to emerging markets mainly China until now obviously eyes Motorola as its Holy Grail.<br />

Also, while Lenovo is now the largest PC manufacturer in the world, 
the dropping sales of the category have made it realise that in order to
 earn more profits, the attention must be shifted towards the smartphone
 business.<br />

Google had itself bought Motorola for a gargantuan $12.5 billion just in 2012. Since then, it has released the Moto X and <a href="http://rexhacker.blogspot.com/2013/11/motorola-announces-moto-g-45-inch.html" target="_blank">Moto G</a>
 smartphones but the division has been leaking money and hasn’t been 
able to create a more balanced environment in the smartphone industry, 
nor a name for Google in the hardware business.<br />

For Lenovo, however, Motorola isn’t the first high-profile capture, 
since it has already brought stuff like the IBM PC and server businesses
 earlier.</div>

As expected, Telenor today announced publicly that it has exited ICH 
or International Clearing House from January 25th, 2014, after which ICH
 – by definition – has collapsed altogether.<br />

Telenor said that Telenor LDI Communications (Pvt.) Ltd (TLC), a 
subsidiary of Telenor Pakistan has made its exit from the International 
Clearing House (ICH) due to heavy losses to Telenor as an enterprise.<br />

International Clearing House, implemented under a policy issued by 
MoIT, included 14 LDI operators. However, during the while, mobile 
companies – Telenor and Mobilink specifically – were not contented due 
to share they were getting out of consolidated international incoming 
traffic’s revenues.<br />

At the time of implementation of ICH Mobile Termination Rate of Rs. 
1.20 for international incoming (MTRI) was proposed for mobile 
operators, however, it was never implemented.<br />

As a result, Telenor showed its concerns last month when ICH was to be reviewed by Ministry.<br />

Telenor said it faced financial losses of more than PKR 2.2 billion 
since the establishment of ICH and upward revision of Total Accounting 
Rate/Access Promotion Charge.<br />

Muhammad Aslam Hayat, Vice President Corporate Affairs Telenor 
Pakistan said on the development, “Elimination of grey traffic is a 
focus area for us. We have worked closely with the regulator in reducing
 grey traffic that is detrimental to telecom operators and the economy 
alike. Unfortunately, it has been observed that the grey traffic has 
increased considerably since the formation of ICH and upward revision of
 Total Accounting Rate/ Access Promotion Charge. This has also had an 
adverse effect on our business thus causing substantial revenue losses 
that are affecting our ability to run as a stable business entity. 
Staying in ICH in these circumstances was no more an option. However we 
are still looking towards the government and PTA to take necessary steps
 in reducing grey traffic.”<br />

It is worth mentioning that over 90% of international incoming 
traffic is terminated on cellular mobile operators’ networks. This 
termination after ICH’s implementation has been reduced by more than 75%
 on average for all operators and has subsequently led to plummeting 
revenues.<br />

After the implementation of ICH the overall international incoming 
traffic has reduced from 1.8 billion minutes to less than 500 million 
minutes per month while the corresponding mobile termination revenue on 
incoming international traffic has therefore drastically declined from 
PKR 1.6 billion to PKR 450 million per month.</div>

QMobile has announced its first tablet for the country’s audience, the QTab X50.<br />

The tablet measures 8 inches in size and comes with a quad-core MediaTek processor underneath.<br />

The display is a disappointing aspect, however, with 1024 x 768 
resolution. QMobile’s several phones themselves easily top that. The 
design is also rather uninspiring but we can live with that.<br />

QMobile has announced its umpteenth phone in the entry-level line-up,
 the Noir A35. This Android powered phone is astonishingly cheap – both 
in price and the quality.<br />

The first thing you’ll notice is the breath-taking similarity between
 the theme on this phone and that on Samsung’s Gingerbread era <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Galaxy-SA-I9100-Unlocked-support/dp/B005M3518G/ref=sr_1_13?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1390937399&sr=1-13" target="_blank">smartphones</a>.
 Upon getting over that, you’ll notice that the display is of WVGA 
resolution, 800 x 480 pixels that is. Just don’t expect AMOLED-kinda 
quality from it.<br />

Samsung has announced a new phone, trying to give quite a rich feature-package for a comparatively low price, the Galaxy Neo.<br />

The Galaxy Neo comes with a 5″ display, a quad-core processor and a 5 megapixel HD camera.<br />

The display comes with a subpar resolution of 480 x 800 pixel 
resolution, which we think is a bit disappointing. The design is the 
same plastic which the company uses for the low-end phones.<br />

According to a new report by IDC, the number of smartphone shipments 
in 2013 reached one billion for the first time ever. Scales were tipped 
just above the golden figure, at 1.004 billion units. The total mobile 
phone sales also reached 1.82 billion.<br />

The big names were responsible for the achievement. Samsung raked up 
most sales, selling a record 313.9 million smartphones, capturing 31.3% 
market share and marking a 42.9% year-on-year increase.<br />

Apple remained second after it sold 153.4 million smartphones.<br />

The Chinese giant, Huawei was third, managing to capture 4.9% of the 
market with 48.8 million phones sold. It along with LG and Lenovo was in
 for a tough battle, with the latter two selling 47.7 and 45.5 million 
smartphones respectively. Still, out of the three, Lenovo was a big 
winner with 91.7% increase in sales over last year.<br />

The “Others” portion, which includes names as HTC and Nokia 
constituted for 39.3% of the smartphones sold worldwide, which is bigger
 than any single company right now.<br />

The research firm also concluded that the biggest trends last year 
were the increase of display sizes and low cost phones. This was also 
the first year where the number of smartphones shipped was larger than 
that of feature-phones.<br />

DTH or Direct-to-home TV system is usually perceived as an expensive 
solution and majority hold the view that cable TV is not going to get 
replaced by DTH due to its cost-effectiveness.<br />

Even PEMRA believes that DTH might not entirely replace cable TV, even in the long run.<br />

PEMRA’s spokesperson, while commenting on the situation, said “The 
fact that DTH will come to Pakistan does not mean cable system will be 
demolished from grass root levels. Both services will be employed 
simultaneously by users”.<br />

DTH, on the other hands, obviously offers the advantage of superior 
quality and hence quality conscious people would immediacy opt for DTH.<br />

Not to mention, audio and visual quality provided by DTH is 
unbelievably commendable. Each colour, graphic and sound is enhanced. 
While we aren’t sure about the adaption rate as of now, but surely DTH 
technology awareness will spread from classes to the masses during the 
time to come.<br />

Talking about adaption is probably too early right now as many of us 
are even not sure about when DTH is actually going to surface in 
Pakistan.<br />

If you can recall, PEMRA had very proudly announced the issuance of 
two licenses for DTH to Cross Currents (Pvt) Limited and ARY

But now, news from various authentic sources have confirmed that only
 numbered weeks are left to finally welcome the most advanced and 
breakthrough TV broadcast technology in Pakistan.<br />

The time left to experience Pakistani DTS is inversely proportional 
to the number of consumers of illegal Indian Dish TV in Pakistan.<br />

Just in case if you don’t know, people across Pakistan have purchased
 illegal STBs (Set-Top-Box ). Each month they are paying at least Rs. 
1,000 and the one time installation is costing them Rs. 7,000-8,000.<br />

These Indian DTH services offer a total of 99 channels, out of which 
almost 50 are foreign news channels, while 35 others are regional Indian
 channels. Only 15 channels are what Pakistanis get against such hefty 
investments.<br />

This whole illegal Indian Dish TV market translates into $150 Million
 for Indian DTH service providers without any tax deduction.<br />

Its up to PEMRA now that they make the DTH a reality in Pakistani 
market with local operators to earn all this money with proper taxing to
 aid our national exchequer.<br />

So if you are an avid TV viewer who won’t compromise on quality then 
your wait isn’t going to be long enough. Instead of investing into 
illegal Indian Dish TV solutions, just wait a little, as Pakistan DTH

Muhammad Farrukh Umair will become the Head of Distribution.<br />

All of these positions would report directly to Bilal Sheikh, Chief Commercial Officer.<br />

We have heard that Wasif is an aggressive player, who is likely to bring solid action in Mobilink’s upcoming campaigns.<br />

All these changes look promising from here, especially when market is
 saturating and 3G is just around the corner. Clearly the focus is on 
aggressive marketing with more muscle put together for sales and

Apple’s most famous computer just celebrated its pearl jubilee or 30th birthday.<br />
Three long decades since Apple first announced its “speaking” 
computer, the original Macintosh, which has grown into a phenomenon now.<br />
Although flawed, it is certainly among the most important computers 
of all time and its importance remains to this day. So to celebrate its 
30th anniversary, here’s a brief look at the history of this important 
bit of computing:<br />
<h4>
<span style="font-weight: bold;">Predecessors</span></h4>
The original Macintosh was brought to life by a group of rebels. By 
the time it came, Apple was already a popular name among hippies who 
self-assembled computers. Several products had already been launched, 
including the LISA which was the first personal computer with GUI, yet 
it was the aging Apple II, Steve Wozniak’s baby which continued to roll 
out slimming profits.<br />
Having been kicked out of the LISA project, Steve Jobs was infuriated
 and inspired alike to make his new brainchild a success. Except that it
 wasn’t <i>his</i> brainchild only though.<br />
<h4>
<span style="font-weight: bold;">The story of inspiration</span></h4>
In 1979, Jobs and a small group of engineers were granted a visit to 
Xerox PARC, a renowned research facility in Palo Alto, California for 
return of a million shares. That was the first time he ever saw GUI 
elements and a pointing device, called a “mouse”. And he was enthralled.<br />
Back at Apple, he took his team on a mission to make a product using 
all the technologies which were simply rotting away at XEROX. The result
 was the Macintosh which became one of the first relatively-affordable 
personal computers with GUI.<br />

<span style="font-weight: bold;">The specs</span></h4>
The computer came with a 9 inch black and while display, along with 
its own keyboard and mouse. In an attempt to make its users use the 
mouse, Apple knowingly shed off the arrow keys from the keyboard.<br />
A floppy disk slot is found beneath the display. Showing his 
obsession with design, Jobs ruled out a fan, leading to some overheating
 issues. Popular software like MacWrite and MacPaint was bundled along 
in the OS.<br />

It also had a 128K RAM, which, as you would expect, was low even then.<br />

<span style="font-weight: bold;">The launch</span></h4>
The launch of the original Macintosh was the first instance where 
Steve Jobs demonstrated his marketing and presentation prowess.<br />
It was first introduced in the popular “1984″ commercial by Apple but
 the real deal was Steve Jobs’ own presentation. Dressed like a 
gentleman, Jobs first gave a few scathing, tongue-in-cheek remarks on 
IBM and his competitors before famously taking out the 1.5 pound machine
 out from a bag (to show just how light it was) and inserting a floppy 
disk on its slot.<br />
Accompanied by the theme from “Chariots of Fire”, the computer showed
 numerous slides from popular Mac programs of the time including 
MacWrite and MacPaint. But what made the audience stand on their chairs 
was the speech by Macintosh itself which followed those slides:<br />

Hello, I am Macintosh. It sure is great to get out of 
that bag. Unaccustomed as I am to public speaking, I’d like to share 
with you a maxim I thought of the first time I met an IBM mainframe: 
Never trust a computer you can’t lift. Obviously, I can talk right now, 
but I’d like to sit back and listen. So, it is with considerable pride 
that I introduce a man who has been like a father to me: Steve Jobs.</blockquote>
Thinking that his team had done a remarkable job, the inside of the 
original Mac even came with the autographs of the entire Mac team

The Mac was released for $2,495 and is quite a success, selling 
70,000 units. And it wasn’t flawless either. The most severe of issues 
was due to the severe shortage of RAM. Having just a skimpy 128K DRAM, 
doing even the most basic of stuff could become a chore. The reason for 
adding no more memory was because of the high-pricing of those things at
 the time.<br />
There certainly wasn’t enough storage and a great display to do some 
practical work either. Due to Jobs’ reluctance to fit a fan onto the 
thing, there also were some heating issues. None of that mattered.<br />
The Mac became one of the most popular computers of all time and its 
acclaim can mainly be attributed to the fact that it popularized the 
idea of accessible personal computing, which also happened to be great

 & control servers to provide infection statistics and system 
console through the local port <i>1157. </i>The Malware sends back the 
stolen information in the Oracle DB format. The malicious code is also

There are some interesting consideration to do:</div>

<li>The technique used by the attacker could result very effective in 
areas where the application is mostly used i.e. Latin America and 
Europe. The WhatsApp has more than 430 million users and 30 million 
added in just the last month. </li>
<li>Researchers identified a “classic style of a Brazilian-created 
malware” pattern, the malicious agent targeted Brazilian population much
 inclined to the use of WhatsApp. The language used and the fact that 
the Trojan is downloaded from a Brazilian server confirm the hypothesis.</li>

This isn’t the first spam email campaign that abused the WhatsApp brand,
 cyber criminals leveraged the service in the past November to push 
malware via email by tricking users into thinking they had a new

Pakistan Telecommunication Authority will be done with the 
preparation of Information Memorandum for 3G/4G spectrum auction by 
second week of February 2014, sources familiar with the development 
confirmed RexHacker.<br />

For those who don’t know, Information Memorandum or IM for 3G will be
 a detailed document with all the information required for mobile phone 
operators for participation in next generation spectrum auction.<br />

Spectrum pricing, criteria for participation in auction, any 
limitations, prerequisites, modalities and all other relating 
information will be added in the IM before making it public.<br />

Auction of third generation telecom licenses is planned around March 
2014, as mentioned by Anusha Rehman, Minister State for Telecom and IT, 
as well.<br />

During the while, 3G Consultants have already consulted all

of efforts are being made to make sure that nothing unplanned or

Huawei is all set to launch yet another Dual-SIM smartphone in Pakistan.<br />
After launching a couple of low end smartphones recently, this time 
company is targeting the high-end segment with its Dual-SIM Ascend G700.<br />

Huawei, while confirming Rex Hacker, said that company is launching Dual-SIM Ascend G700 in Pakistan next week. Just as we predicted, Huawei is trying to expand its reach in the Dual-SIM smartphones segment by introducing low, mid and high phones.</div>
G700 takes most of its design inspiration from Ascend Mate. It 
features a 5-inch IPS display with 720p resolution. This screen size is 
considered normal these days for smartphones, but it can also be 
categorized as a phablet — a mini version of Mate.<br />
Ascend G700 isn’t probably the finest hardware around. It is equipped
 with Quad-Core 1.2GHz processor, 2GB of RAM and 8GB internal storage 
with an option to expand memory via microSD card upto 32GB.<br />
Ascend G700 features 8-megapixel primary camera equipped with a 
single LED flash and a secondary 1.3-megapixel snapper for selfies. Both
 cameras are able to record 1080p videos as well. The phone runs on 
Android 4.2 out of the box, with Huawei’s home grown EMUI version 1.6 on
 top of it.<br />
It merits mentioning here that this phone will be exclusively sold by the distribution network of Muller & Phipps, which was appointed recently as the official distributor of Huawei in Pakistan along with Airlink Communication.<br />
There is no word on the pricing yet, but looking at the specs and 
Huawei’s previous pricing strategy this phone will be priced between 
25-30 thousand rupees.<br />

It is a widely established fact that broadband infrastructure 
contributes towards economic growth of a country and notable amount of 
job creation.<br />
Pakistan – without 3G – was left with PTCL’s aging copper media to cope with broadband needs of the country. WiMAX operators couldn’t fill the gap while EvDO technology isn’t smooth enough to entirely replace the fixed broadband technology.<br />
This whole proposition resulted into mere <a href="http://rexhacker.blogspot.com/2013/11/pakistan-tops-29-million-broadband.html" target="_blank">2.9 million broadband connections</a> in last one decade against 125 million cellular subscriptions during the same duration.<br />

<span style="font-weight: bold;">Growth in Broadband Penetration</span></h4>
With upcoming 3G spectrum auction a large population will be able to 
transition towards broadband services through high-speed wireless data 
networks. This is a trend that is followed in various markets, have a

Above table makes it apparent that 3G broadband penetration has 
exceeded fixed line broadband in almost every market, except Thailand 
where 3G licenses were auctioned just a year and half ago. Even in 
Thailand the broadband penetration on 3G is fast catching the fixed line
 mark.<br />
A recent report by <a href="http://www.plumconsulting.co.uk/pdfs/Plum_Aug2013_Pakistan_3G.pdf" target="_blank">Plum Consulting</a>
 anticipates that Pakistan is set to achieve at least 10 percent 
broadband penetration (or 20 million broadband connection) by 2018 if 3G
 is auction in 2014.<br />
These estimates are based on low-demand forecast. While with high 
demand forecast, broadband penetration in Pakistan can go up to as high 
as 16 percent or 30 million broadband connections by 2018 if 3G is 
auctioned in 2014.<br />
<h4>
<span style="font-weight: bold;">Positive Impact on GDP</span></h4>
Economic studies have proven the fact that there is a positive 
relationship between broadband penetration and GDP growth. This is true 
for both developed and developing markets.<br />
Researches have established that impact of a ten percentage point 
increase in broadband penetration on GDP growth rates range from 0.1-1.5
 percentage points, with higher impacts found in lower income countries 
like Pakistan.<br />
If we carry a conservative estimate of 0.5% impact on GDP and assume 
that impact will last for 3 years then Pakistan’s current GDP will 
increase by Rs. 40 billion in one year after 3G auction, while another 
Rs. 105 billion increment after second year of 3G auction and Rs. 210 
billion during the third year of 3G auction.<br />

Estimates suggest next generation networks are expected to add Rs. 
380 billion to Rs. 1,180 billion to national GDP during next few years 
till 2020.<br />
Not to mention, these figures exclude the auction money that Pakistan is going to generate through 3G.<br />

<span style="font-weight: bold;">Increased Employment:</span></h4>
Same report, and experts’ opinion, indicate that over 900,000 new 
jobs will be created if 3G is auctioned right away. These jobs will span
 around various sectors including telecoms, services, advertising, 
outsourcing and others.<br />

<span style="font-weight: bold;">Increased Taxes</span></h4>
The increased taxes arise as a result of the general stimulus to 
economic activity i.e. they derive from taxes paid by all sectors of the
 economy, especially the data services.<br />
Plum Consulting estimates suggest that government will be able to 
generate addition taxes of at least Rs. 29 billion and at most Rs. 71 
billion from various sectors after 3G auction.<br />

<span style="font-weight: bold;">Socio-Economic Benefits </span></h4>
Broadband is an enabler. It will enhance the provision of education, 
health and government services in Pakistan by reducing delivery costs 
and improving service availability.<br />
With access to broadband will entirely change the way we do our 
business, financial and private transactions. The way we interact with 
each other or the way we find our addresses, everything will be 
reshaped.<br />
Smartphones with increased computing abilities are going to lessen 
the efforts and hardships we come across in our daily routines.<br />
From the way we pay our bills to the way we register our complaints with utility companies will all go digital.<br />
In addition, low cost and flexible access to IT resources, such as 
file storage, software and databases, can be accessed using Cloud based 
services. Assume a system with centralized database and reporting of 
corruption or registration of complaints from general public (similar to
 what PITB did with Dengue reporting Android app) will make the lives 
easier, simpler, efficient and more productive.<br />
Access to broadband technology and the internet can provide specific 
benefits to women enabling access to education and health resources and 
ways of generating income within their homes.<br />
Many of the benefits from using broadband to deliver health and 
education services are not reflected in GDP estimates mention above as 
they occur over a long timescale (e.g. the benefits of better primary 
and secondary education can take 10 or more years to be realised in 
labour force productivity) and because they are about improving aspects 
of quality of life which are not captured by GDP measures.<br />
More outsourcing opportunities will surface. With higher rate of 
access to broadband will mean more resources available for servicing the
 world. More services to export and more revenue inflows, just that 
everything will be reshaped.<br />
<h4>
<span style="font-weight: bold;">Only if we Do 3G Rightly:</span></h4>
All of the above benefits will be reaped if one condition is met: We do the 3G rightly.<br />
A deeper and proper planning is what we require at this point in 
place. Only setting the auction price rightly, taxing the services 
rationally and regulating the operators finely will yield all the 
benefits that we have mentioned above.<br />
Governments naturally would want to make more money with the spectrum
 auction, which is fine and understandable. But there’s a very thin line
 between getting the maximum out of auction money and going over-priced.<br />
Unrealistic auction targets, such as $ 2 billion urged by Mr. Ishaq 
Dar, will get this country nothing. Neither the services nor the 
benefits.<br />
Our government will have to be very accurate in terms of determining 
the bread limit of telecom companies to make sure they are left with 
enough resources to enable the consumers will services too.<br />
Same goes for taxing on telecom sector. Government has always shown 
deaf ears to the taxation concerns of telecom industry, but this sector 
is now going to get to the next level. It is getting beyond the basic 
voice and communication services.<br />
Telecom sector is going to become the back-bone of national economy 
and hence a proper attention and rational taxing is what it requires.</div>
