Muhammad Haris, a developer based out of Karachi, and his teammate 
has sold over $1,000,000 (that’s 1 million in US dollars) worth of items
 on Envato a.k.a Themeforest, a marketplace for WordPress themes.<br />
Haris, primarily a coder, made this lot of money through a WordPress theme <a href="http://themeforest.net/item/avada-responsive-multipurpose-theme/2833226" target="_blank">called Avada</a>.<br />
We remember Haris from 2008-09 when he used to freelance wordpress development work, mainly the plugins.<br />
Haris says that he started his career as a freelancer and is still contented with his work-style and the returns.<br />
After early days of solo work, Haris teamed up with Luke, a designer 
from US, and started doing WordPress theme development by enlisting 
their work on Themeforest.<br />
Haris tells that their theme Avada has been sold over 30,000 times on Themeforest in less than an year.<br />
Haris is one of those known millionaires out of the country who 
adopted freelancing as their careers. Currently there are millions of 
freelancers in Pakistan doing wonders in their respective fields. oDesk –
 one of the largest freelancing portals – recently said that half of 
their registered users come from Pakistan.<br />
This all has been made possible by the technology enthusiasts without much support from the government and our social system.<br />

Even
 though a lot of PC manufacturers have publicly rebuked Microsoft’s 
Windows RT, ASUS has become one of the first companies to actually ditch
 the OS, once and for all. The world’s fifth largest PC company decided 
to call it quits because of the losses incurred and the poor sentiments 
of the OS in the industry.<br />
“It’s not only our opinion”, ASUS CEO Jerry Shen said in an <a href="http://online.wsj.com/article/BT-CO-20130809-703280.html" target="_blank">interview</a>,
 “the industry sentiment is also that Windows RT has not been 
successful”. The company also undertook a writedown on the sales of the 
tablets running on this OS in Q2.<br />
After this announcement, ASUS will not be making any tablets running Windows RT OS.<br />
It’s not only ASUS though which got losses from the OS. Only sometime
 ago, Microsoft itself did a $900 million writedown on the Surface RT 
tablets.<br />
Windows RT tablets, which was considered to be a splendid alternate 
for PC lovers to get a PC-like tablet, is complained to not to offer 
Android and iOS-like apps in terms of quality and quantity.<br />
Still, there is some hoping left that RT will make a comeback, 
especially now that Nvidia itself has made it clear that the work on the
 second-generation Surface RT is underway.</div>

Given
 the flourishing situation of the app business, it’s quite clear that 
Microsoft’s Windows Phone Store is seeing it’s fortunes change too. The 
Store recently hit overall downloads of 2 billion.<br />
The figure took roughly 34 months, just two months shy of 3 years to 
be achieved. The good thing here though is that the last of those two 
billions came in just over 6 months.<br />
And while the figure isn’t as impressive to the 50 billion plus 
download figures of App Store and Google Play, two billion downloads 
still seems like an impressive number for an operating system with about
 4% of worldwide marketshare.<br />
It also signifies that the terrible ecosystem of Windows Phone has finally improved quite a lot.<br />
The figure also roughly translates to around 50 apps downloaded per device which is equally impressive a number.<br />
Given the increasing rate of downloads which the OS is seeing, the 
next billion will probably be achieved even sooner, and it will be 
shocking if it isn’t.</div>

After teasing its next big phone for quite some time, LG has finally 
taken the covers off its latest and greatest smartphone. The new 
flagship, simply called the G2 (nothing Optimus here) has a 5.2 inch 
display and SnapDragon 800 processor.<br />
The first thing you’ll notice with the G2 is that it has got almost 
no bezels. Also, the plastic-made phone has no hardware key at the 
front. The back boasts a 13 megapixel camera, and below it are the only 
hardware keys of the whole package. The volume control and lock keys are
 placed at the back because LG thinks that’s the right place for big 
phones like side, as compared to those on the sides, and also improves 
the users’ grip.<br />
The display of the LG G2 is a 5.2 inch IPS touchscreen, with Full HD 
resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels and brightness rating of 450 nits. It’s
 Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protected. The display also features a 
technology called GRAM which reduces power consumption by 26%.<br />
LG G2 is the first widely available smartphone with SnapDragon 800 
processor. The processor is clocked at 2.26Ghz and is accompanied by 
Adreno 330. The amount of RAM available is 2 GB, while the amount of 
storage you’ll get is 16 or 32 GB which is non-expandable.<br />
The phone runs on customized Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean and comes with several software tricks of its own.<br />
AnswerMe allows you to take phone calls by just taking the phone to 
your screen. In Guest Mode, you make a special, different-than-usual 
gesture to unlock the phone, which then displays the customized OS for 
other people to use. It’s a great feature for privacy in-case you have 
something on your phone that you want to hide.<br />
KnockON lets you double-tap the display as an alternative to pressing
 the power lock key. Slide Aside lets you close running apps by simply 
sliding three fingers across the screen. QuickRemote turns your phone 
into a universal remote.<br />
The camera on the LG G2 is of 13 megapixels with 1080p Full HD 
resolution at 60 frames per second, twice of almost all flagships.<br />

BlackBerry,
 once one of the largest smartphone companies of the world has finally 
decided to look for better alternatives now. Instead of going for the 
top and challenging its rivals, it is now searching for viable ways to 
make a smooth comeback. And for its survival.<br />
On Monday, it made a special board committee consisting of its CEO 
and some other important people including those from its board and J.P. 
Morgan.<br />
The committee joined their heads together for “possible joint 
ventures, strategic partnerships or alliances, a sale of the company or 
other possible transactions”.<br />
As a result, the shares of the company soared by over 10%.<br />
Prem Watsa of Fairfax Financial, the company which holds the most 
shares of BlackBerry also resigned citing conflict of opinions that 
could’ve emerged during this process.<br />
It’s sad though that even after the release of the BB10 OS, which the company thought would be life-saving, failed terribly in achieving success.<br />
BlackBerry’s market-share lies at a measly 3.7 percent currently.</div>
