Dell maybe going through tough times right now but that hasn’t stopped them from making new machines.
The new duo of XPS 11 and 13 are laptops which are inspired by the
new trends and feature attractive designs, making them a direct
competitor to the 11 inch and 13 inch MacBook Air models respectively.
Dell XPS 11
The more portable offering of the two, XPS 11, features a 360 degree
hinge which allows to you use it in laptop, tent, stand or tablet modes.
The keyboard, however, is touch-sensitive rather than having mechanical
keys so that might turn some people off.
But the 11.6″ display of the XPS 11 may prove to be its biggest
selling feature. It comes with a 2560 x 1440 pixel resolution by
default. The touch-enabled display is protected by Corning Gorilla
Glass.
Innards of the system include a 1.5Ghz dual-core Intel Core i3
Haswell processor, with 4 GB worth memory, integrated graphics and 80 GB
SSD storage. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth
4.0, USB 3.0, card slot and headset jack.
Windows 8.1 64-bit comes pre-installed. The XPS 11 starts at $1000.
Dell XPS 13
Dell XPS 13 features a much-more conventional laptop design and comes
with a 13.3 inch display with Full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels.
On the hardware side, it comes with a dual-core 1.7Ghz Intel Core i3
Haswell processor with 4 GB RAM, 128 GB SSD storage and Intel HD 4400
Graphics.
Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.0, 2 USB 3.0 ports, card slot, headset jack and mini DisplayPort.
Rather interestingly, this laptop comes with Windows 7 Home Premium pre-installed. The XPS 13 also starts at $1000.
