Mobilink has been certified as the World’s Fastest Growing Brand on 
Social Media by Social Bakers, global provider of network statistics and
 analysis for the most commonly used social networks.<br />

This is the first time a Pakistani Brand has led the global charts of
 any social media ranking. Social Bakers has also marked Mobilink as the
 most socially devoted Pakistani for a second consecutive month on all 
social fronts.<br />
The achievement followed Mobilink’s fan base crossing the milestone 
of over 2.1 million Facebook fans and twitter followers growing to more 
than 89,000. This marks Mobilink as the leading telecom brand on social 
media with maximum likes on Facebook (www.facebook.com/mobilink) and the
 most followers on its twitter account (www.twitter.com/mobilink).<br />

Ali Murtaza, Director Marketing Mobilink said, “The overwhelming 
response of our growing fan base on the social media and our leading 
statistics are reflective of our focus on providing the best customer

Mobilink has recorded the best response rate of 94% for customer 
queries on social media according to Social Bakers. The Twitter 
statistics issued by Social Bakers for the month of December show that 
Mobilink has escalated through the charts to reach the Klout score of 61
 with a clear 5 points lead over the closest competitor as of January 1,
 2014.<br />

Mobilink’s dominant strategy of connecting with its fans on the 
social media was part of the launch of its new brand identity Har Dil –

Google has decided to sell Motorola Mobility to Lenovo for $2.91 billion. The American search company, whose buyout of Motorola was puzzling, despite the fact it owns Android, disclosed the news last night and we’re really not surprised much.<br />

As a part of the deal Lenovo will get to own Motorola’s 2,000 patents
 and its brand name, while remaining (majority of) patents will remain 
with Google.<br />
The deal is also one of the largest ever initiated by a Chinese technology company.<br />

The move is widely seen as an attempt by Lenovo, which is the 5th 
largest and among the quickest growing smartphone manufacturers, as 
gaining some important market share in the American markets where 
Motorola remains a major force.<br />

Lenovo, whose reach has been limited to emerging markets mainly China until now obviously eyes Motorola as its Holy Grail.<br />

Also, while Lenovo is now the largest PC manufacturer in the world, 
the dropping sales of the category have made it realise that in order to
 earn more profits, the attention must be shifted towards the smartphone
 business.<br />

Google had itself bought Motorola for a gargantuan $12.5 billion just in 2012. Since then, it has released the Moto X and <a href="http://rexhacker.blogspot.com/2013/11/motorola-announces-moto-g-45-inch.html" target="_blank">Moto G</a>
 smartphones but the division has been leaking money and hasn’t been 
able to create a more balanced environment in the smartphone industry, 
nor a name for Google in the hardware business.<br />

For Lenovo, however, Motorola isn’t the first high-profile capture, 
since it has already brought stuff like the IBM PC and server businesses
 earlier.</div>

As expected, Telenor today announced publicly that it has exited ICH 
or International Clearing House from January 25th, 2014, after which ICH
 – by definition – has collapsed altogether.<br />

Telenor said that Telenor LDI Communications (Pvt.) Ltd (TLC), a 
subsidiary of Telenor Pakistan has made its exit from the International 
Clearing House (ICH) due to heavy losses to Telenor as an enterprise.<br />

International Clearing House, implemented under a policy issued by 
MoIT, included 14 LDI operators. However, during the while, mobile 
companies – Telenor and Mobilink specifically – were not contented due 
to share they were getting out of consolidated international incoming 
traffic’s revenues.<br />

At the time of implementation of ICH Mobile Termination Rate of Rs. 
1.20 for international incoming (MTRI) was proposed for mobile 
operators, however, it was never implemented.<br />

As a result, Telenor showed its concerns last month when ICH was to be reviewed by Ministry.<br />

Telenor said it faced financial losses of more than PKR 2.2 billion 
since the establishment of ICH and upward revision of Total Accounting 
Rate/Access Promotion Charge.<br />

Muhammad Aslam Hayat, Vice President Corporate Affairs Telenor 
Pakistan said on the development, “Elimination of grey traffic is a 
focus area for us. We have worked closely with the regulator in reducing
 grey traffic that is detrimental to telecom operators and the economy 
alike. Unfortunately, it has been observed that the grey traffic has 
increased considerably since the formation of ICH and upward revision of
 Total Accounting Rate/ Access Promotion Charge. This has also had an 
adverse effect on our business thus causing substantial revenue losses 
that are affecting our ability to run as a stable business entity. 
Staying in ICH in these circumstances was no more an option. However we 
are still looking towards the government and PTA to take necessary steps
 in reducing grey traffic.”<br />

It is worth mentioning that over 90% of international incoming 
traffic is terminated on cellular mobile operators’ networks. This 
termination after ICH’s implementation has been reduced by more than 75%
 on average for all operators and has subsequently led to plummeting 
revenues.<br />

After the implementation of ICH the overall international incoming 
traffic has reduced from 1.8 billion minutes to less than 500 million 
minutes per month while the corresponding mobile termination revenue on 
incoming international traffic has therefore drastically declined from 
PKR 1.6 billion to PKR 450 million per month.</div>

QMobile has announced its first tablet for the country’s audience, the QTab X50.<br />

The tablet measures 8 inches in size and comes with a quad-core MediaTek processor underneath.<br />

The display is a disappointing aspect, however, with 1024 x 768 
resolution. QMobile’s several phones themselves easily top that. The 
design is also rather uninspiring but we can live with that.<br />

Under the hood, a 1.2Ghz quad-core MediaTek processor with 1 GB worth

The tablet comes with a SIM card slot but we don’t know whether phone
 calls and messaging are doable. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are also onboard.<br />

swallow.<br />

QMobile has announced its umpteenth phone in the entry-level line-up,
 the Noir A35. This Android powered phone is astonishingly cheap – both 
in price and the quality.<br />

The first thing you’ll notice is the breath-taking similarity between
 the theme on this phone and that on Samsung’s Gingerbread era <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Galaxy-SA-I9100-Unlocked-support/dp/B005M3518G/ref=sr_1_13?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1390937399&sr=1-13" target="_blank">smartphones</a>.
 Upon getting over that, you’ll notice that the display is of WVGA 
resolution, 800 x 480 pixels that is. Just don’t expect AMOLED-kinda 
quality from it.<br />

Scratch the surface (just throw it on the wall, it’s that easy) and

A duo of 2 megapixel and VGA cameras can be found but other than 
occasional Facebook posts or selfies, we can’t think of a reason why you
 would want to use either of them (or make fun of yourself) for some

Samsung has announced a new phone, trying to give quite a rich feature-package for a comparatively low price, the Galaxy Neo.<br />

The Galaxy Neo comes with a 5″ display, a quad-core processor and a 5 megapixel HD camera.<br />

The display comes with a subpar resolution of 480 x 800 pixel 
resolution, which we think is a bit disappointing. The design is the 
same plastic which the company uses for the low-end phones.<br />

Underneath, you will find a 1.2Ghz Cortex A7 quad-core processor,

The phone is powered by a 2,100 mAh battery, which is also removable.
 The version of OS is Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, obviously customized by 
Samsung.<br />
