Telenor Pakistan today announced a fund allocation of Rs. 22 million 
towards relief and rehabilitation of earthquake victims in Baluchistan.<br />
Telenor donated the fund to Red Crescent Society, which will manage the relief efforts on behalf of the company.<br />

USF yesterday announced that it will establish telecenters in the 
rural areas across Pakistan. Ms. Anusha Rehman, Minister of state for 
IT, chaired a meeting in this regard yesterday.<br />
Universal Service Fund has already deployed several telecenters as 
pilot, however, company is till running the project on pilot basis 
before running it on full scale.<br />
Telecenters will offer local community with state of art computer 
equipment and broadband facility. Several e-services will be hosted on 
the infrastructure to facilitate people of un-served, underserved and 
far flung areas.<br />
The programme will be run all over the country and special 
consultation will be undertaken with provincial governments to cater to 
their specific requirements, to be incorporated in the telecenters’ 
project.<br />
Tele center is a shared site – with few computer machines equipped 
with internet access — that provides public access to information and 
communication technologies: A public place where people can access 
computer, internet that enables them to gather information, create, 
learn and communicate with others while they develop essential digital 
skill.<br />
It is envisioned that the tele center project will facilitate 
e-services including e-health, e-learning, e-commerce, e-agriculture 
etc. in rural areas; it will create local employment and 
entrepreneurship opportunities and extend broadband to provide distance 
education and ICT literacy.<br />

cards, birth/death registration and computer training to the youth of 
the nation, the expected roll out extents to Union council level in

Samsung announced the launch of its new products along with Ufone at a

 Samsung’s curved display phone is finally here and its called Samsung 
Galaxy Round featuring a horizontal curve that is pretty much deep and 
hence notable.<br />
Carrying forward the convectional design, Samsung Galaxy Round offers
 5.7″ Full HD Super AMOLED with 7.9mm thick and weighs 154g offers a 
comfortable hand grip feeling to user, and exclusive experiences of 
curved display.<br />
Samsung said that it has put the curved nature of phone in use by 
allowing users to check information such as date, time, missed call and 
battery easily when home screen is off, and the Gravity Effect for 
creating visual interaction with the screen by tilting the device.<br />
Other than this the deep curve will serve no purpose, but probably a distinction you can experience amongst your fellows.<br />
Inside the Galaxy Round there is a 2.3 GHz MSM 8974 quad-core 
processor to power the phone. Other luxuries include 32GB of internal 
storage expandable up to 64GB through MicroSD and 3GB of RAM.<br />
Galaxy Round sports a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera while there is a 2MP front-facing camera too.<br />
Galaxy Round will run on Android 4.3 with Samsung’s Touch Wiz interface.<br />

PTCL has launched an online portal that it is calling “Self Service 
Portal”, primarily aimed at helping customers with sale and support 
services.<br />
Currently, customers are not allowed to create their accounts to get 
updated status about the (landline or broadband) services they are 
using. However, customers can register complaints, know the status of 
the complaint and chat live with PTCL’s customer support team.<br />
It is likely that company will add more features in WSS with time.<br />
Early impressions suggest that a self-proclaimed Self Service Portal 
is a half-hearted effort that should have various additional features to
 actually service customers. For instance, there are countless PTCL 
customers who are still unable to keep track of their data usage 
history, a much-requested feature especially when data limits are in 
place.<br />
The self service could be a blessing if customers were given an 
option to upgrade/degrade or modify the broadband speeds, access levels 
and other similar things.<br />
Nonetheless, lets praise PTCL’s efforts in getting us a platform 
where customers can order new DSL/Broadband connections or EVO (wireless
 broadband) devices. There are good number of tutorial videos available
