Confirming
 the rumours circulating around the web for a long time, Samsung has 
revealed that it will out its next smartwatch in its Unpacked 2 event 
scheduled for the 4th of September.<br />
The company will also launch its Note III smartphone there.<br />
While it won’t be the first time that Samsung will be launching such a
 device, the new product is by far the most anticipated. Putting life to
 all the hopes, Samsung Mobile executive, Lee Young-Hee has herself 
confirmed the so-called Galaxy Gear smartwatch in an interview to Korean
 times. She also confirmed that the display of the watch won’t be 
flexible.<br />
“We have intellectual properties for patents related to the next 
wearable devices”, she says. Those are the concepts for future 
products”. Here she might’ve also hinted that it won’t be cheap either.<br />
Right now, most of the smartwatches available pair tightly with your 
phone for content integration and syncing. It will be interesting 
whether Samsung will be able to achieve more in this category without 
sacrificing on the user interface and efficiency.</div>

Contrary to what many people would’ve initially thought, Samsung is 
not new to the Smartwatch business. It has actually made some high-tech 
watches so the Galaxy Gear is not an experiment. It’s still high-tech 
however the watch is already getting negative reviews from around the 
web.
The watch display measures 1.63 inch in size and has a 320 x 320 
resolution meaning pixel density of 277ppi. It uses Super AMOLED 
technology. Unusually for a Samsung device, the Galaxy Gear will not run
 Android.<br />
It pairs with your phone via Bluetooth 4.0 and after that, will be 
able to take calls. That’s very James Bond-like but it will still look 
quite bizarre. The upper strap features a 1.9 megapixel camera with BSI 
Sensor and 720p video recording.<br />
Under the hood, the watch comes with an 800Mhz processor, 512 MB RAM 
and 4 GB non-expandable storage. The whole package weighs just 73.8g.<br />
The 315mAh battery is enough for making the watch last for a bit over
 a day. Using a feature called Auto Lock, it instantly locks your phone 
as soon as the paired device goes out of range, i.e. more than 1.5 
meters away. Another feature called Find My Phone does what it’s 
supposed to be doing by via ringing, lighting up or vibrating.<br />
It will be compatible with only the new Galaxy Note III and Note 10.1
 2014 Edition at launch but support for the Galaxy S III and Note II is 
coming in the next few months.<br />
The Galaxy Gear will launch with 70 apps at launch which includes Evernote, Pocket, Path, eBay and more.<br />
The watch will be available in 100 countries around the globe for $299 and in 6 colors this month.</div>

The new Note 10.1 is another device launched by Samsung in the same evening as the Note III. With the last generation Note 10.1
 receiving less fanfare than Samsung would’ve wanted, this time Samsung 
is trying to make the wrongs right by correcting a few fundamental 
things.<br />
Firstly, the 10.1 inch display’s resolution has been monumentally 
increased to 2560 x 1600 pixels. That’s the same as that of the Nexus 10,
 a Google-branded tablet made by Samsung. That’s one big step for 
mankind, as opposed to the catastrophic 800 x 1280 resolution on the 
previous generation “Note”.<br />
It comes with the same octa-core Exynos processor as the Note III,
 as well as 3 GB of RAM and 16/32/64 GB of expandable storage. 8 
megapixel camera with 1080p Full HD video can be found at the back, 
along with a 2 megapixel camera with Full HD video at the front.<br />
Despite all this action, the Note 10.1 2014 is just 7.9 mm thick and 
weighs 535g. For connectivity, Bluetooth 4.0, microUSB 2.0, USB-OTG and 
Wi-Fi are used.<br />
Being a Note tablet, it comes with its own S-Pen and has a slot at 
the back for holding that. This S-Pen will again have all the tricks 
which the Note III has.<br />
The battery underneath the tablet is of 8220mAh capacity. Here are the full specs of the Note 10.1 2014 Edition:<br />

Samsung’s Note is undoubtedly the world’s most popular phablet.Nobody
 had expected it to sell this tremendously when it was first launched 
around three years ago. Instead, it sold in millions. More importantly, 
it helped trigger the phablet revolution, something which started to 
make sense thanks to its S-Pen.<br />
So when Samsung took the stage to launching the Note III yesterday, 
the world knew something special was coming up. The newest iteration of 
the world’s most popular phablet features an even bigger screen, 13 
megapixel camera with 4K Ultra HD video and either an SnapDragon 800 or 
Octa-core Exynos processor.<br />
The Note III has seen a different approach in design this time. Gone 
is the polycarbonate plastic back of the previous generations and 
instead, matte leather has made an entrance. So no metal this time but 
we guess leather isn’t too bad either.<br />
The display is now a 5.7 inch unit with Full HD resolution and pixel 
density of 386ppi. (That last bit is actually just a numbers game as 
anything above 300ppi is just useless). Despite the larger display, the 
Note III is even lighter and slimmer than before at just 168g and 8.3mm.<br />
Under the hood you get either a quad-core Qualcomm SnapDragon 800 or 
Samsung’s own Exynos Octa-core processor. The former will be available 
for the LTE version. That will be accompanied by Adreno 330 graphics, 3 
GB of RAM and either 32 or 64 GB of expandable storage.<br />
At the back, the camera has a higher resolution of 13 megapixels now,
 along with 4K video at 30 fps or 1080p video at 60fps. A 2 megapixel 
Full HD camera follows at the front. For connectivity, the phone uses 
microUSB 2.0, USB-OTG, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC, Infra-red, dual-band Wi-Fi 
and optional LTE. A dual-sim version of the phone will be available 
later too.<br />

As usual is the case with Samsung’s top-of-the-line smartphones, the 
Note III comes with software tricks (or gimmicks, whatever you call 
them) of their own. This is a tradition which was started by Samsung 
itself.<br />
Air Command is a menu which comes into action as soon as you pull the
 redesigned S-Pen out or when you press the S-Pen button while flashing 
the stylus above the display, giving you multiple options regarding 
note-taking and stuff.<br />
The first option is Action Memo which turns your notes into nifty, 
useful stuff. For example, scribbling down a phone number will result in
 the call being taken while an address will open Google Maps instantly.<br />
The next in the line-up is Scrapbook which collects anything you 
highlight on the screen via the S-Pen. That is followed by S Finder 
which simply searches for your asked query from your notes or any other 
highlighted stuff.<br />
The 4th in the list in Screen Write which just does what it is 
supposed to do while the last one is Pen Window. Its an immensely 
gripping concept where you draw a square on the screen and choose apps 
to float around on the screen. This amazing idea lets you run several of
 your important apps at once, while still using as much screen-estate as
 you want.<br />
Samsung has also taken a response against HTC’s Blinkfeed by 
enhancing its own My Magazine app. The Note III will get its own Flip 
Leather cover in a huge variety of colours.<br />

The list of phones in the Galaxy S4 range is mind-boggling in itself. Following from the original international Galaxy S4 and the quad-core SnapDragon versions, we got the S4 mini and then the water-proof S Active and now, for the cameraphone fans, the S4 Zoom with a 16-megapixel sensor, a 10x optical zoom, and a Xenon flash.<br />
Galaxy S4 Zoom is targeted specifically towards people who use their phone cameras as their primary photo-taking tools.<br />
Weighing at 208g, Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom sports a 4.3-inch Super 
AMOLED qHD super AMOLED display with a resolution of 540×960 pixels 
covered with a sheet of Corning Gorilla Glass 3.<br />
Running on the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system, the phone is 
powered by a 1.5GHz dual core processor (which will vary to markets 
according to Samsung) along with 8GB of internal storage and 1.5GB of 
RAM that’s expandable via microSD card slot.<br />
Connectivity options include WiFi a/b/g/n as well as Bluetooth 4.0 
and NFC along with A-GPS and GLONASS, an accelerometer, digital compass,
 proximity sensor, gyroscope, and light sensor. The battery is a 2,330 
mAh pack, even though Samsung is not saying how long it will last.<br />
At back, there is a full-fledged camera of 16-megapixel CMOS sensor 
with optical image stabilization, 24-240mm 10x optical zoom, with an 
F3.1-F6.3 lens along with 1.9-megapixel camera for video calls.<br />
The smartphone camera hybrid comes with a fanatical shutter button 
.There’s a Xenon flash, rather than the usual LED, allowing up to 4fps 
burst photography with autofocus and support for recording up to 1080p30
 HD video.<br />
On the software front, as well as TouchWiz on top of Android 4.2 
Jelly Bean, Samsung has added quite a few new camera-specific features 
including up to 25 smart mode options. These smart modes are namely 
Beauty face, Best photo, Continuous shot, Best face, Kids shot, 
Landscape, Dawn, Snow, Macro, Food, Party/Indoor, Action freeze, Rich 
tone (HDR), Panorama, Waterfall, Animated photo, Drama, Eraser, Sound 
& Shot, Silhouette, Sunset, Night, Fireworks, Light trace and Smart 
mode suggest.<br />
Another novel feature embedded in this device is Samsung Zoom Ring, 
which, if twisted when in a call, automatically kicks into camera mode 
allowing you snap a photo as well as sending it via MMS to whoever you 
are talking to.<br />
However, the Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom will go on sale this summer in 
United Kingdom and then will move to other regions, though the company 
is yet to confirm pricing.<br />

Samsung has made clear that it has big hopes with its upcoming Tizen 
OS. In an interview with CNET, Samsung Mobile division head J. K. Shin 
said that smartphones aren’t its target with Tizen. After splashing in 
that industry, they would like to see it in further markets including 
cars as well, describing the idea as “cross category”.<br />
“There are many convergences not only among IT gadgets, including 
smartphones, tablets, PCs, and cameras”, Shin said, “but also among 
different industries like cars, bio, or banks. Cross-convergence is the 
one [area] Samsung can do best since we do have various parts and 
finished products.”<br />
Samsung actually isn’t the only company trying out its luck in cars 
as Apple has already made some great strides in that business lately.<br />
With Tizen, Samsung will try to shrug off its reliance on Android 
operating system where it is the undisputed leader, but nonetheless 
dependent upon Google when it comes to development, among other things 
including leadership rights.<br />
Tizen has got some nice reception already but might see itself at the back of the crowd in the beginning.<br />
Shin strongly believes that Tizen has the potential to become the 
third operating system for the company alongside Android and Windows 
Phone. He also said that a lot of interesting development is currently 
going on in the tablet division right now.<br />

“There will be good news on the tablet soon,” he said. “Please wait and see.”</blockquote>
Samsung has already killed its Bada operating system (which wasn’t 
totally unsuccessful after all and got better sales than Windows Phone 
for quite a time) to dedicate more effort into Tizen, so it’s only 
natural that the company is very excited with it.<br />
